What a super fun day with friends & our kids. Made learning about our history so interesting. We will definitely keep coming!
Ive been here many times as a kid but now that Ive seen more behind the scenes and stuff its a lot more interesting. The staff are very very good at staying in character and can even speak French, they are also very knowledgeable about the history of what they are teaching about not just talking off a script of some kind. All the heritage sites and housing is really cool and if youre lucky you can get a coat hanger from the blacksmith. Theres also sometimes maple taffy that you can make thats really really good. You can also just pour maple syrup on snow and then pick it up with a stick and eat it. They have lots of interactive things as well thats are really neat. You can check out different beaver pelts and sieve for gold. The store and bathrooms are also really cool to check out, theyre overpriced but literally every tourist location has that problem so its not really much of an issue.
I take all my foreign visitors to Fort Langley. The work done to replicate the way the early settlers lived back then is great. I believe it is part of our patrimoine and still influences us today. The little village also transpires of the early way of life in a later era.And it is Affordable!!! Not like most tourists attractions...
We arrived too early to check into our hotel, so we dropped by this historic site. If you have a Parks Canada pass, you get free admission! Totally worth a visit.I had a great conversation with a staff member who is writing a research paper on medicine in the 1800's. The blacksmith was also engaging and informative. Then I paused to listen to a docent giving a tour and talking about the role Metis people played in fort life. The things you learn make this place enjoyable. My kids loved the indoor play area. They got to pretend to paddle a canoe, trade goods, and haul bales of fur. They also liked looking at the lambs, goat kids, bunnies, and chickens.
It was good but wifi is not very good. Need more washrooms as for 30 people staying there overnight only one toilet and one urinal in the mens washroom and two toilets in the womens. also no shower facilities so if you are staying two nights, no shower for you. Other wise the sleeping cabins are nice.
